About the Author
Tanya Mendonsa was educated at Loreto House and College in Calcutta, India.
After spending 20 years in Paris, studying French literature at the Sorbonne, painting and running a language school, she returned to India, a story told in her memoir "The Book of Joshua – The True Story of a Dog Who Loved The World" (Harper Collins 2012), a third edition of which was published in 2020.
Her first collection of poetry, "The Dreaming House" (1st edition 2009; 2nd edition 2011) and her second collection "All The Answer I Shall Ever Get" (2011) were both published by Harper Collins.
"Infinite Memories" (in collaboration with the photographer Laurence Toussaint) Editions Signum, Paris, on the city of Calcutta, appeared in 2017.
A single long poem, "The Fisher of Perch – A Fable for Our Times", (Paper Project 2017) was also included in the anthology "Converse" (published by Pippa Rann UK in 2022, to celebrate 75 years of Indian Independence).
Her second memoir, "A Bite In Time – Cooking with Memories" was published in 2022 by Paper Project.
"Hidden Garden" is her first production online. Mendonsa wrote a column on poetry for the bi-monthly magazine "Arts Illustrated", and her poems have been widely anthologised.
A third collection of poetry, "A Stone, A Star" is shortly to appear.
